WABC Full Member Standards

WABC offers two levels of membership for professional business coaches at various stages in their careers–newer and part-time to experienced.

The WABC Full Member Standards are for qualifying and requalifying for WABC Full Membership. You will refer to these standards when you’d like to know what’s required to become a WABC Full Member which is for experienced professional business coaches.

ABOUT WABC FULL MEMBERSHIP

WABC Full Membership is for experienced active professional business coaches who represent many professional roles (e.g., leader, manager, internal or external business coach, external consultant).

Professional business coaches at this level have an appropriate professional background, training in evidence-based business coaching and a minimum of 3 years of business coaching experience. And, virtually all hold at least one WABC business coaching credential (RCC, CBC, CMBC®, ChBC®).

WABC Full Membership is granted by WABC, a global accrediting body headquartered in Canada.

HOW TO EARN WABC FULL MEMBERSHIP

To earn WABC Full Membership, you must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Have successfully completed an appropriate formal evidence-based business coaching training program or assessment (WABC Accredited® Programs* or WABC Portfolio Pathway* are highly preferred), OR
  • Have enrolled in a WABC Accredited Program, OR
  • Have enrolled in a WABC Portfolio Pathway.

You also must meet all these requirements:

  • Are actively providing business coaching services**,
  • Have in place appropriate business coaching service agreements with your business coaching clients, coachees and/or business coach training participants,
  • Have at least 3 years of business coaching experience** (includes coaching in the private, public and nonprofit sectors),
  • Have at least 7 years of business or organizational experience (includes coaching and non-coaching work in the private, public and nonprofit sectors),
  • Have provided business coaching services to at least 15 recipients in the last 3 years***,
  • Have a reputation for integrity and sound character,
  • Agree to abide by the WABC Business Coaching Definition, the WABC Code of Business Coaching Ethics and Integrity, the WABC Professional Standards for Business Coaches, the Terms of Membership, the Terms and Policies and any other standards, terms, conditions, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines that may be adopted, and
  • Meet other requirements that may be established from time to time by WABC.

*WABC Accredited Programs and WABC Portfolio Pathway are routes for you to earn a WABC business coaching credential. As a WABC Full Member, our full suite (RCC, CBC, CMBC and ChBC) is available to you (subject to meeting eligibility requirements).
**Business coaching services and experience refer to one-on-one coaching, but may also include team coaching and other related services and activities (e.g., business coach training, speaking engagements, publishing and/or research about business coaching). You’ll ensure your alignment with all our aforementioned Standards. Your application will be supplemented by an appropriate résumé or CV.
***Your application will be supplemented with five verifiable references confirming you have provided business coaching or business coach training in the last 12 months. NOTE: If you’re enrolled in, or have successfully completed, a WABC Accredited Program or WABC Portfolio Pathway, you’re exempted from providing these references.

HOW TO MAINTAIN WABC FULL MEMBERSHIP

You must continue to meet the qualification standards by renewing annually. The renewal process is quick and may be completed online.
