WABC offers a range of program accreditation, and WABC Accredited (Level 1 – Leader-as-Coach)® is our first level of accreditation for leader-as-coach coaching.
Level 1 – Leader-as-Coach is for programs that develop leaders-as-coaches. Such programs develop core coaching skills within the context of a leadership role and is for participants – leaders, managers or supervisors at any level – with no or limited formal focused training in coaching who wish to integrate coaching skills as part of their leadership skill set. We identify practice in this context to be the application of coaching skills, with appropriate recognition of the imbalance of power held by them and individual team members, with the goal of supporting the development and empowerment of others and improving performance in the delivery of strategic business and organizational goals and objectives.
In 2007, the WABC Business Coaching Competencies were the first-ever, global association-sponsored evidence-based professional competencies that defined business coaching as a distinct discipline.
Building on our expertise in professional business coaching, the WABC Leader-as-Coach Coaching Competencies is the first-ever, global association-sponsored evidence-based professional competencies that define leader-as-coach coaching. This list of competencies covers the breadth and depth of professional practice and is applied (at the appropriate level) to specified WABC credentials and WABC Accredited® programs.
